The Perfect Car or Perfect Platform: What's Next?

As I wrap up this blog, I wanted to reflect on what makes the GT86 more than just another sports car. It seems to have been so significant in the car industry without ever boasting mind-blowing horsepower figures or blistering straight-line speed, and for that matter the GT86 will one day be a legend in the same regard as the AE-86. It's true strength lies in being able to engage its driver in the few ways a car can, unfiltered driving experience that rewards skill and precision in a still forgiving scenario.

From its inception, the 86 was never about numbers - it was about bringing back the joy of driving. Toyota and Subaru's collaboration brought the market a car that prioritised handling, balance and fun above all else. With its low centre of gravity, perfect 53:47 weight distribution and responsive rear wheel drive set up - the 86 is a car that invites its driver to explore its limits and make every twist of the road an adventure.

Coupe of the Year: GT86 vs BRZ

The 86 and BRZ are cars that offer amazing value in today's market. With little to no real direct equivalents available on the market, the nearest offering from competition is a 2nd or 3rd generation Mazda MX5.

The beauty in the GT86, lies in its reminiscent design cues from the AE-86. In the world of new performance cars, the GT86 stands as a testament to Toyota's commitment to its 'fun-to-drive again' campaign with its modern day vehicles paying homage to its old legendary platforms in both design and performance characteristics.
